By donating food you can help us feed the homelss and hungry. Running a food drive is a great way to help, so we encourage you to collect non-perishable food items and supermarket gift cards.

What we do and don’t need

We have a special duty of care to our guests, because many of them suffer chronic health conditions. So we have a healthy eating policy and we comply with international food safety standards. This means we can only accept certain food donations.

Items we can’t accept

We are fully accredited with a HACCP certification (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points), recognised internationally as the best method of food risk management, so we cannot accept the following items under any circumstances.

  • No cooked food (including Christmas ham & turkey)
  • No raw food
  • No fresh fruit & vegetables
  • No bread, pastry & cakes
  • No cups, plates & other kitchenware
  • No cleaning chemicals
  • No used clothes & bedding
  • No towels
  • No appliances, homeware & furniture
  • No items in glass jars
  • No refrigerated goods
  • No expired & out of date items
  • No items that are damaged
