Ways to give back to the community

Every year hundreds of dedicated individuals, school kids, community groups and businesses donate their time and expertise to the Rev. Bill Crews Foundation. In fact our volunteers make much of our amazing work possible!

People volunteer with the Rev. Bill Crews Foundation for a range of reasons, many have a strong sense of community and a want to give back. Our volunteers help by preparing and serving meals from our food vans, or by helping disadvantaged kids learn to read. They also give invaluable administration assistance.

Individuals, schools, community groups and businesses can all join our team of dedicated volunteers.

There are many ways you can help. These include serving meals in our famous food vans, becoming a reading tutor or assisting with administration.

It feels great to be able to help people in need, I know for a fact it has made me a better person.

The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is always looking for volunteers to assist in a range of frontline and support areas. It is only with the support of generous volunteers that we are able to help those most in need.

the Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is committed to providing a safe working environment for all, including children. Volunteers will need a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) number before applying for a position. WWCCs are free for volunteers and applications can be completed at the office of the Children’s Guardian or via this link.

Individual volunteers need to be at least 18-years old and will be required to attend an induction session prior to commencing their first shift. The details will be confirmed closer to your start date.

Schools & community groups

The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is proud to provide a meaningful volunteer experience for schools and community groups. Volunteering opportunities involve helping with our lunch service, or more specialised roles in helping our chef as a catering assistant. We can accommodate groups of up to 10 people.

Group shifts are designed to give volunteers a holistic experience of restaurant operations. Each shift starts with a site induction, after which volunteers are allocated to a range of roles according to the restaurant’s needs. This can include food preparation, restaurant set-up, food and beverage service, the creation of emergency food parcels, and cleaning.
