Guest Relations & Engagement Volunteers assist in Rev. Bill Crews Foundation’s Guest Services by engaging with our guests and community in everyday interactions and support.

This is an exciting opportunity to nurture a meaningful environment in which guests are supported in their daily interactions, with opportunities to be creative in engaging guests through activities and one on one discussions to enrich their daily experience.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Guest Relations & Engagement Volunteer reports to the Rev. Bill Crews Foundation’s Head of Community Engagement and Events and will conduct tasks that include but are not limited to:

  • Providing guests with their basic needs services, such as:
    • Towels and toiletries
    • Emergency Food Parcels
    • After hours Meals
    • Emergency Clothes
  • Create opportunities for meaningful engagement and connections
  • Promote BCF groups, activities and events
  • Access and connections to internal support and services
  • Information to external services and support enquiries
  • Basic individual daily support
  • Conduct community engagement activities i.e. Games
  • General enquiries from guests and broader community
  • Create and foster a professional working environment
  • Maintain a professional & confidential service and support

HOURS

Flexible ~ 1 – 2 days per week for 4 – 6 hours per day, as required.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, self-motivated, proactive and responsive
  • Highly professional and articulate with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Recognises the value in people’s different opinions, lifestyles and approaches and the learning opportunity it presents
  • Treat others with respect, care and compassion

HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

  • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate effectively to identify and resolve issues, conflicts and disputes
  • Works in a way which acknowledges hopes, fears and aspirations and provides pathways to success

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

ESSENTIAL:

  • Customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills (speaking AND listening)
  • Excellent organisational skills

HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

  • Community or welfare sector experience
  • Group activity engagement
  • Understanding of mental health, disability, behaviours associated with addiction
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience in stakeholder relations and engagement

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19
  • Working with Children Check for volunteering purposes
