Easter volunteers serve hot lunch and easter eggs to Sydney’s rough sleepers

by Team Bill 02 Apr 2021
Sydney will show its heart this Easter when a team of volunteers give thousands of Easter eggs to the homeless and needy.

Rev. Bill Crews and his team of volunteers will serve a very special Easter Sunday roast together with Easter Eggs for everyone.

“We want to bring a little joy to people who have nothing”, quipped Rev. Crews, founder of The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation.

A good news story

Hundreds of homeless and needy Sydneysiders will gather to celebrate Easter at the Rev. Bill Crews Foundation today.

They will enjoy a delicious, free Sunday lunch with special Easter treats, including thousands of donated Easter eggs!

Volunteers from Sydney’s Jewish community will also be there to serve the meals. According to Rev. Bill Crews it’s an example of interfaith solidarity.

“In these uncertain times it shows that all religions can help heal the wounds in society”, said Rev. Crews.

Easter Sunday church service for the homeless

Prior to the lunch, Rev. Bill Crews will hold an Easter Sunday church service for the homeless.

“I often ask myself where Jesus would be: Amongst the splendour of the big churches or sharing Easter with the homeless? I’m pretty sure I know the answer”, said Rev. Crews.

The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is one of Sydney’s largest frontline charities, assisting tens of thousands of people every year.
